LAS VEGAS HISTORY
The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, features two new exhibits, Distillery and The Speakeasy, as part of The Underground, telling the history of Prohibition.
The Distillery exhibit tells the stories of bootleggers, rum runners and the government agents who tried to take them down. The centerpiece is a working still producing moonshine so you, too, can have a taste of this formerly forbidden engine of American commerce.
At The Speakeasy, you will travel back in time to the Prohibition era. The exhibit features informative and entertaining presentations, video and artifacts that tell the stories of the Roaring Twenties, which saw the rise of flappers, jazz and the Mob. The speakeasy exhibit is built around a well-stocked bar and a stage for evening entertainment, creating a lively environment inspired by that bygone age.
The Mob Museum, at 300 Stewart Ave. in Downtown Las Vegas, is open daily, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Underground

BEYOND 2018
Resorts World Las Vegas, which broke ground in 2015, is scheduled to open in 2020 on the site of the former Stardust Resort and Casino. This will be Las Vegas Strip’s first ground-up, significant casino resort development in a decade. This multibillion-dollar project will be built with a modern Asian theme, creating a unique international tourist destination and experience.
As part of a deal with private real estate development firm Witkoff Group, Marriott International is developing a new integrated Las Vegas resort, The Drew Las Vegas, as well as the first JW Marriott hotel on the Strip.
The Drew, soaring 65-plus stories above Las Vegas Boulevard, will have nearly 4,000 rooms and suites, a casino, entertainment, nightlife, retail and dining venues. The property is scheduled to open in late 2020.
