Even a quick trip to historic Charleston, South Carolina, brings many rewards.

simple weekend getaway feels somewhat like a pipe dream. It was an unrealistic idea that surfaced and swelled in my brain yet was drowned out by the cry of a child, a ring of my cell, another email landing in my inbox – like a balloon popped.
But like a puppy with a sock, I committed to booking a two-day, adult-only trip to somewhere I’ve always wanted to go: Charleston, South Carolina.
We reached a point in the pandemic where I felt relatively safe traveling. I had missed spending quality time with my husband and craved luxuries we enjoyed before our kids came along: not having a schedule or curfew, sleeping in and peace and quiet.
It’s funny how a two-hour flight south can make an Ohioan feel they’ve been transported to a new planet. Let’s be honest: March is a trying time for us. We’re craving sun and spring warmth because it technically is spring, right? But Mother Nature allows the snow,
