“The managers and mechanics were knowledgeable, generous with their knowledge and time and so personable!”
“I brought my daughter who is 16 and a new driver. She admitted she really enjoyed it ... you pleased a teenager. That’s impressive.”
“I was very impressed with the way they treated me, their honesty and how clean and organized the shop was. I have returned to have work done since the event.”
Planning for Car Repair Costs
According to a AAA survey, 64 million American drivers – one in three – can’t pay for unexpected car repairs.
While maintenance costs on most modern cars are relatively low, common repair costs average about $500 and in many cases can go higher. It’s a good idea to set aside at least $50 a month to cover routine maintenance, deal with unexpected car trouble and protect your vehicle investment.
“The total cost of owning and operating a vehicle is more than $8,500 a year, and many Americans fail to take into account all of the expenses,” said John Nielsen, AAA’s managing director of Automotive Engineering and Repair. “In addition to car payments, fuel costs and insurance premiums, drivers need to budget for inevitable expenses such as maintenance and repair.”
Prepare for the unexpected by finding a shop you can trust before you need one. AAA-owned Car Care Plus facilities in the Columbus area and AAA-Approved Auto Repair shops throughout the state provide quality, value and expertise for all your maintenance needs.
If a car repair expense does catch you unprepared, negotiate the repair cost with the shop and ask if they give a discount. If your car requires a very expensive repair, think about getting a second opinion. This might cost more, but it will confirm the diagnosis and the second estimate could come in at a lower price.
Finally, if you must borrow to make an auto repair, ask if the shop offers a payment plan or another form of financing.
Keep driving with AAA.
Battery replacement that comes to you.
