Visit the Lathrop House
The Lathrop House, located off Main Street in Sylvania, is the only former stop on the Underground Railroad that is open to the public in northwest Ohio. Recently, the house, which is owned by the city and is more than 170 years old, underwent some renovation to stabilize the structure. The house was built in 1848, and while the Lathrop family resided there, it served as a stop on the Underground Railroad. Former slaves would sleep in the basement, and previous renovations showed spaces behind walls where slaves would hide. The house was moved from its original location to Harroun Park.

The Columbus Arts Festival has decided to remain in its original riverfront location, June 10-12, ending its plans to relocate to the Arena District in 2022. The festival will once again enjoy the scenic views along the Scioto River and fill the Main and Rich Street bridges with artist booths.
“We’re excited that we will remain in a place we know and love well,” said Festival Director Sean Kessler. “And with the completion of some of the new construction, the west side of the Scioto Peninsula will have new parking and public art amenities coming online in time
