Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls Now Offers
Grand Guest Lodges
The Inn & Spa at
Cedar Falls, located
in the Hocking Hills
region of southeast Ohio,
announced that guests
will now have access to
large, fully loaded lodges
that sleep up to two
dozen guests. This news
comes after Zac and
Lauren Loomis purchased the inn from longtime innkeepers Ellen Grinsfelder and Terry Lingo in May. Loomis, a central Ohio-based realtor, owns and also manages several lodges in the area.
Lodge guests are encouraged to use the promo code “welcomehome” when booking their first reservation to receive free perks such as continental breakfast delivered to their lodge for the first morning of their stay, a firewood starter kit and a s’mores kit. In addition, groups reserving one of the lodges are offered complimentary access
to The Gathering Place for meetings. The Gathering Place room rental fees typically start at $295 per day. Reservations are available at InnatCedarFalls.com or by calling 740-385-7489.
“We’re thrilled that guests who have long loved the Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls now have the opportunity to bring a large, multigeneration family; corporate groups; or several couples with them to experience the incredible dining, spa and scenery offered at the Inn,” said Zac Loomis. “Our team is exceptionally skilled at customizing experiences for larger groups. We can add ready-to-cook dinner packages to the fridge, spa packages and more. We encourage guests to speak with our front desk staff
about how to customize an unforgettable stay with us.”
The Wilds Welcomes Two Rare Calves
The Wilds, the renowned conservation center in Cumberland, is celebrating the recent birth of a Masai giraffe calf and a greater one-horned rhinoceros.
The giraffe calf is the 18th
to be born at the conservation center. The birth is a significant achievement
as the Masai giraffe’s conservation status, which was previously listed as
“vulnerable” on the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List of Threatened Species was changed to “endangered” this year. The population of this giraffe subspecies is estimated to have plummeted by nearly 50% over three decades primarily because of habitat degradation and poaching,
The rhino calf is receiving excellent care from her mother, Sanya, and is the eighth greater one-horned rhino to be born at The Wilds. Greater one-horned rhinos nearly went extinct during the 20th century, but thanks to some recent conservation successes, it is now listed as “vulnerable” instead of “endangered” on the IUCN’s Red List. Visit TheWilds.org to check open dates and hours.
Angels, Carnations and Comedy Murals
Grace Alliance
The Troll Hole Museum, located on historic East Main Street in Alliance, is working hard
to change the
look and feel of
the city’s historic downtown. Murals are popping up throughout the district.
The Troll Hole Museum partnered with Beech Creek Botanical Gardens to create a mural commemorating Levi Lamborn, who developed the scarlet carnation. Steve Dasgupta of India created the mural. David McDowell, the resident artist of Troll Hole Museum, completed seven other murals as part of a plan to improve facades on East Main Street. More are in the works.
Taste the Flavors of the
Italian Food Trail
Midway between Cleveland
and Pittsburgh, and about an
hour from each, Trumbull
County in northeast Ohio
launched America’s first Italian
Food Trail last year. This year, a
passport program has been
introduced to expand the Italian
Food experience. More than
pizza and pasta, Trumbull County’s Italian food sites offer unique dishes like Italian Greens with Hungarian Peppers, Pizzelle, Wedding Soup, Chicken Francaise and more. The regional specialty of Hot Peppers in Oil is a dish beloved by both residents and visitors alike.
