This is an African Violet Society of America (avsa.org) sanctioned competition featuring plants of cultural excellence from the society’s members’ collections and unique plant designs.

“The Path to Paradise: Judith Schaechter’s
Stained-Glass Art”

Stained glass is a
centuries-old tradition,
most often associated
with medieval architec-
ture and stories of
Christianity, illuminating
its subjects through
dynamic color and light.
Artist Judith Schaechter
has turned the medium
on its head, developing
new techniques and choosing non-traditional – often female – subjects and unusual backgrounds.
“The Path to Paradise: Judith Schaechter’s Stained- Glass Art,” featuring more than 40 of Schaechter’s stained-glass panels and a selection of related drawings and process materials, will be on view in Toledo Museum of Art’s Levis Gallery. The objects on view are drawn from both private and institutional collections.
“Judith Schaechter has redefined the limits of stained glass throughout her career with her highly decorative yet provocative approach to the material,” said Diane Wright, the museum’s interim director of curatorial affairs and senior curator of glass and decorative arts. “By fusing this historic medium with subversive thought and pure dedication to the exploration of the craft, Schaechter has altered the landscape of contemporary American art.”

Signature Immersion Tour – Each Signature Immersion Tour visits three premier wineries and is
led by the lodge’s Certified Wine Specialist Lauren Fiala. The Saturday and Sunday Signature Immersion Tours are $75 per person, depart at noon and return to the lodge before 5 p.m. Attendees will receive a gift bag, including a chocolate candy bar from Marianne’s Chocolates and a keepsake wine glass.
Saturday featured stops:
• Debonne Vineyards – Private tasting with food pairing
(light appetizer)
• South River Vineyard – Barrel tasting and private
cellar tour
• Kosicek Vineyards – Tasting and relaxation time
Sunday featured stops:
• Grand River Cellars – Cave tasting with food pairing
(light appetizer)
• Ferrante Winery – Tank sample, two samples at the
tasting bar and light cheese pairing
• Laurello Vineyards – Tasting, relaxation and live music
Reservations and advance deposits are required. Seating is limited. Pricing includes shuttle service, tastings at the three wineries, light appetizers and a small gift bag provided by the lodge. Featured stops are chosen at the discretion of the lodge. Hours and/or availability are subject to change because of COVID-19 restrictions.
Wine Shuttle – With the lodge’s classic wine shuttles, guests visit three or four wineries. All stops are at the discretion of the shuttle driver.
• The Premium Wine Shuttle visits four wineries and is $45 per person.
• The Deluxe Wine Shuttle visits three wineries and is $35 per person.
Reservations and advance deposits are required. Seating is limited. Pricing is for shuttle service only and does not include any services or items at any of the stops, such as possible cover charges, special event prices, tastings, wine, souvenirs or any other services.
